SLED Vs. Operation TLC2
SLED Criminal Records Check
Many South Carolina members are under the impression that the SLED check is compliant with the SSCI-Operation TLC² Recommended Guidelines for Background Screening Volunteers as well as the CAPRA Standards for agency accreditation.
To clarify, this is not the case. The SLED Criminal Records Check is an in-state check of the central repository of crimes adjudicated in South Carolina. The Recommended Guidelines for Background Screening Volunteers calls for a national criminal background check, as does the CAPRA Standards for agency accreditation.
