A church volunteer in Pennsylvania was arrested this week after police launched an investigation into possession of child pornography.
Andrew Mark Patterson, 45, volunteered with the youth program at the Living Waters Family Worship Center where he worked with children between the ages of 12 and 18. During a search of Patterson’s home, police reportedly discovered over 1,000 videos and images of children engaged in sexually explicit conduct. Patterson faces charges for the dissemination and possession of child pornography.
Senior Pastor for the church, Sylvia Tryon, said that Patterson was a volunteer youth pastor who had recently moved back to the Monroeville area. Tryon claims Patterson worked with Living Waters for only a few months and was previously involved with other churches, according to his resume.
Police obtained a search warrant of his home on Thursday where they discovered “one of the largest” collections of child pornography seen by their office. Patterson also faces a child endangerment charge after police discovered “deplorable” living conditions in his Monroeville home that he shares with his wife and teenage daughter.
