A boy’s basketball and soccer coach in New York was placed under arrest last week when accusations emerged that he was involved in a sexual relationship with a 12-year-old girl.
According to police, Caleb Sexton, 27, had been meeting with the girl on multiple occasions inside the Hedstrom Baptist Church in Cheektowaga, NY. Police believe Sexton engaged in sexual acts with the girl in a secluded area of the church between January 2012 and September 2013.
Police also found evidence that Sexton was regularly communicating online with the girl through Facebook chat. The girl’s mother contacted police in August after learning of the alleged incidents.
Sexton, whose father is the pastor at Hedstrom Baptist Church, has since been relieved of his volunteer coaching positions at the West Seneca Christian School where the victim was a student the previous year.
Sexton is due back in court on November 3rd where he will face charges of second degree sexual abuse, second degree criminal sexual act, and endangering the welfare of a child.
